Περιεχόμενο μαθήματος (Syllabus)

This is an introductory course in sociopsychological research methods. This course tries to provide a comprehensive overview of the scientific study of social thought and behavior. In part I (6043), we focus on how to plan, conduct and analyze sociopsychological research and effectively communicate the results. More specifically, we first center on a brief epistemological review of social sciences’ field of research methods, including dialectics of research, the notions of “paradigm”, “theory”, “research”, the relations between them and we report crucial current deontological and political issues. Then, we refer extensively on how to design reliable and valid research by adequately conceptualizing, operationalizing and, finally, measuring different variables in the field of sociopsychological research. This course concludes by presenting the logic of sampling and the different types of sampling procedures by differentiating between quantitative and qualitative approaches.
